N.T. Wright: Adam and Eve

  1. That was interesting to watch both as a student of theology and as an American.

I appreciate many things that he said, but when I read Romans 5:12ff, 1 Cor. 15:20-56 and even 1 Timothy 2:12-14, I don't think Paul means that he (Paul) believes that "it matters that something LIKE a primal pair getting it wrong DID happen." He seems to mean something much more than that.

I also take issue with his eschatology, and when I say that, I am not siding with dispensational premillennialists. I simply mean that if one doesn't understand that the New Heavens and New Earth were the goal from Genesis 1:1, it may be much easier to say that we and God are in this project together, trying to get it right.

Also, politically, I am committed to civil libertarianism, so I can no longer identify with a literal reading of Genesis 1, 2 and 3 being tied in with political issues. I would need to hear more from someone outside the USA to find out what that looks like.
